Overview
ARMA, under General Dynamics, specializes in complex Special Operations Forces (SOF) projects. With a team of former SOF experts, they deliver high-performance IT solutions designed for demanding environments.
Challenge
I was asked to create a new website for ARMA. The website redesign was driven by the need for modernization and an enhanced user experience. The old site was outdated and difficult to navigate, failing to reflect ARMA’s advanced IT solutions and capabilities. The new design featured a contemporary look with updated content, ensured a consistent brand appearance across all platforms, and incorporated interactive elements to boost user engagement. This overhaul was to successfully strengthen ARMA’s brand presence, improve accessibility, and help maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
Brand
Starting with a rebrand of ARMA was essential for establishing a solid identity and laying the groundwork for a successful redesign. By focusing on creating a strong and consistent brand image from the outset, I ensured that every aspect of the new website accurately reflected ARMA’s core values and mission. This rebranding process involved refining visual elements such as the logo and color scheme, and clearly defining the brand's voice and messaging. This solidified brand identity guided my redesign efforts, resulting in a website that effectively represents ARMA’s advanced IT solutions and connects meaningfully with its target audience.
Supporting Content
I created promotional designs, including composite visuals and custom illustrations, to enhance the website's content. The composite visuals integrated key elements of the brand’s identity, while the illustrations provided engaging and informative visuals. This approach not only reinforced the rebrand but also enriched the website's content, making it more engaging and aligned with ARMA’s refreshed image.
Navigation and Flow
The website design features a primary navigation system that reveals a secondary navigation menu upon rollover. Each main section is divided into subsections, each represented by a distinct original icon to aid pattern recognition and complement the subsection text. The layout of each page is designed to present content in a clear and organized manner, adhering to a cohesive aesthetic. This design ensures a smooth transition between topics and incorporates engaging imagery to enhance the content.
Result
The primary goal of this design approach was to support business development. Although the ARMA website was eventually transitioned to align with the visual identity and structure of its parent company, GDIT, many of the concepts and visuals from this project influenced future initiatives. This demonstrates that every effort contributes to progress and that design and business are always evolving.
